Elevate Manchester – Session 3: Growth Mindset and Entrepreneurial Thinking

The Elevate School Leavers Programme in Manchester continues to be a transformative experience for our young participants. Session 3 focused on building a growth mindset, fostering entrepreneurial thinking, and identifying personal values that align with future career aspirations. With the continued support of Barclays, this session was a powerful opportunity for reflection, inspiration, and skill-building.

Inspiring Journeys and Entrepreneurial Thinking

Andy Piper opened the session with an engaging talk about his career at Barclays and his commitment to supporting young people. His charismatic and relatable approach challenged participants to think bigger, push past limitations, and embrace opportunities with confidence. His energy and insight encouraged the group to reflect on their ambitions and take proactive steps toward achieving them.

Abu-Eesa (Haroon) Ahmed from Security Frameworks and Oversight followed with an inspiring account of his career journey, including the challenges and triumphs of running his own business. His story resonated deeply with the participants, sparking motivation in our aspiring entrepreneurs and reinforcing the idea that success comes from resilience, adaptability, and a willingness to take risks.

Derek-James Leighton, Chief of Staff at Lloyds Banking Group, shared his expertise on thriving in an ever-changing professional landscape. He highlighted the importance of adaptability and transferable skills, showing participants how their existing talents can open doors to unexpected opportunities.
